Dry-Type Transformer
SCBH15 Amorphous Alloy Dry-Type Transformer

SCBH15 Amorphous Alloy Dry-Type Transformer

The SCBH15 combines an amorphous-alloy core with cast-resin dry-type construction to deliver low no-load losses without insulating oil. It suits indoor distribution systems that remain energised for long periods, particularly where light-load operation makes core losses a significant part of energy consumption.

The series covers 200 to 2,500 kVA, with primary voltage options from 6 to 11 kV and a 0.4 kV secondary. Dyn11 connection, multiple impedance options and ±2 × 2.5% or ±5% tapping allow the electrical configuration to be matched to the network and its protection scheme.

Key Features

  • Amorphous core — no-load loss dramatically reduced.
  • Cast-resin dry construction — flame-retardant and suitable for indoor installations.
  • Ultra-low no-load loss helps reduce lifecycle energy cost in continuously energized applications.
  • Ideal for green buildings and data centers.

Typical Applications

  • Commercial buildings
  • Residential complexes
  • Manufacturing plants

Installation & Aftercare

Prepare the site, plan routine checks and keep service records.

What needs to be ready before installation?

  • Provide a dry room or suitable enclosure, with ventilation designed from both no-load and load losses at the specified duty.
  • Keep winding cooling passages open and leave access for cleaning, terminal work and any fitted temperature or fan equipment.
  • Check the unit outline, mass and cable interfaces rather than assuming an amorphous-core unit matches another transformer of equal kVA.

What should operators check during routine rounds?

  • Observe fitted winding-temperature indications and fans during rounds, and check for dust restricting airflow.

What is covered during planned maintenance?

  • At planned isolation, qualified personnel clean accessible insulation and cooling passages and inspect resin surfaces, terminals and earthing connections.
  • Cast-resin construction requires no transformer-oil sampling; contamination, cooling faults or tracking still require attention under the dry-type maintenance programme.
