XNRM6-12 SF6 Gas-Insulated Ring Main Unit

XNRM6-12 gas-insulated ring main units house medium-voltage switching components in a sealed stainless-steel tank for 12 kV cable networks. SF6 insulation and a compact common-tank design bring multiple circuit functions together where installation space is limited.

The series offers load-switch, switch-fuse, circuit-breaker and cable-incoming units, with additional bus-coupler, metering and PT options. These can be combined for the feeder and protection scheme. A sealed 3 mm stainless-steel tank protects the internal switching components.

Key Features

  • Sealed SF6 insulation helps reduce routine maintenance; inspection follows the equipment manual and site conditions.
  • Stainless-steel tank for harsh / wet environments.
  • Flexible multi-unit configurations (load-switch, breaker, metering).
  • Compact for urban cable ring-main points.

Typical Applications

  • Compact transformer substations
  • Industrial park ring networks
  • Commercial building substations

Installation & Aftercare

Prepare the site, plan routine checks and keep service records.

What needs to be ready before installation?

  • Match the unit lineup and cable connector interfaces to the station drawing; reserve termination and operator access space.
  • Provide a stable foundation, station earthing and the specified pressure-relief path; confirm extension interfaces if later expansion is planned.
  • Protect external mechanisms and cable areas from moisture and contamination even though primary equipment is enclosed in a sealed stainless-steel tank.

What should operators check during routine rounds?

  • During rounds, inspect external indications, enclosure condition and any fitted gas-pressure gauge or alarm.

What is covered during planned maintenance?

  • At planned isolation, qualified personnel check operating mechanisms, interlocks, cable interfaces and earthing connections.
  • Investigate gas alarms, damaged cable interfaces or unreliable position indication; opening the sealed tank is not routine maintenance.
