XGW-12 Outdoor Cable-Distribution Ring Main Unit

The XGW-12 outdoor ring main unit provides cable switching and distribution in a pad-mounted enclosure for 12 kV networks. A sealed SF6-insulated tank houses the switching components, allowing the unit to be installed at outdoor cable-ring or terminal distribution points close to the feeder route.

Rated at 630 A, the series can be configured around the required number of ways, incoming cable direction and automation provisions. The outdoor enclosure limits environmental exposure to the switching equipment, with the final circuit arrangement and protection functions matched to the network scheme.

What should operators check during routine rounds?

Inspect locks, seals, corrosion and drainage, especially after severe weather; check position indications and any fitted gas-pressure alarm.

What is covered during planned maintenance?

During planned isolation, qualified personnel inspect cable terminations, earthing and external operating mechanisms.
Water entry, damaged seals or abnormal gas indication requires attention; sealed-tank work belongs to authorised service personnel.
