DFW 12 kV Cable Branch Box

DFW 12 kV Cable Branch Box

The DFW cable branch box connects and branches medium-voltage cables in 12 kV underground distribution networks. Its outdoor enclosure brings cable terminations together at a dedicated junction, supporting feeder extensions and connections to multiple outgoing circuits.

This datasheet covers the 630 A configuration, with a short-time withstand rating of 20 kA for 3 seconds and a peak withstand rating of 50 kA. Cable terminations, incoming and outgoing ways and entry arrangements are selected for the network layout. The enclosure is rated IP33.

  • Industrial parks and commercial centres
  • Urban grid upgrades

Installation & Aftercare

Prepare the site, plan routine checks and keep service records.

What needs to be ready before installation?

  • Match connector interfaces to cable voltage, cross-section and termination type; reserve space for the actual cable bending radius.
  • Use a stable plinth and cable trench with drainage; prevent standing water around cable entry points.
  • Retain access to compartment doors and cable identification, with enclosure earthing connected to the site earthing system.

What should operators check during routine rounds?

  • Inspect the enclosure, locks, seals and surrounding drainage; check for corrosion, water entry and damaged cable labels.

What is covered during planned maintenance?

  • During planned isolation, qualified personnel inspect cable terminations and earthing connections for contamination, tracking or heat damage.
  • Investigate repeated feeder faults or evidence of moisture before returning an affected branch to service.
